What are the impacts on children in Elementary Education today pertaining to programs such as PowerPoint and other multimedia software? ("A" Posting)

As concerned parents and guardians these days we like to know what our children are learning in the classroom, and rightly so! In my future classroom, interactive computer learning will definitely be a must amongst my students. I feel as an upcoming teacher that I have the duty to expose children, even at such a young age, to forms of technology that will benefit them further on in their educational career. Within the article attached to my question posted, digital asset management is a technology made to manage the flow, instruction, and retrieval of digital assets, such as electronic text documents (email), images (pictures), videos, newspapers, lectures, PowerPoint presentations, and abstracts (other). The agreement calls for On stream Media's digital media services platform to instruct different video programs in long or short formats into both Quicktime and Windows Media players. In English, I will be using various forms of presentation material to help further lessons such as PowerPoint's, interactive storybook telling (otherwise known as Ebooks), and video lessons. I believe that Kindergarten is a strong age for building all sorts of educational foundations, in this day-in-age, I also believe that technology should be inserted in the lives of our children to prepare for the future.

In selecting this article, I gave strong thought to what the impacts actually are on our children in the classroom using interactive programs such as PowerPoint. In remembering back to my elementary school days, traditional learning took the cake in the sense that the Blackboard "ruled" the learning curriculum. Seeing new, interesting and captivating forms of technology, such as PowerPoint, and Quicktime used for playing videos for learning purposes, makes me jealous in a way that I didn't have the luxuries of such exciting learning, but in a way excites me to know that I can now turn around as a teacher and use these methods in the classroom for my future classes to come. Thank goodness for improvements in our technological society!
